Michigan Advanced Technician Training (MAT2) orientation meeting

Mon, 02/17/2014 - 10:00am to Tue, 02/18/2014 - 11:45am

The Michigan First! One Stop Service Center in Dearborn will host an orientation meeting for prospective job seekers looking to jumpstart their career.

ACCESS Employment and Training is recruiting candidates for highly advanced training courses in mechatronics, information technology (IT) and design and visualization technology through the Michigan Advanced Technician Training (MAT2) program.

MAT2 is a new innovative approach to post-secondary education. It combines the needs of students and industry partners to create a dual-education system to produce a pipeline of educated and highly-qualified employees for today’s job market.

High-demand and high-paying manufacturing and technology jobs are going unfilled because of a shortage of workers with the necessary skills to fill them. MAT2 program participants receive the necessary training and experience to compete for these job opportunities.

The MAT2 program will provide students with:

  • Three years of college tuition paid for by the employer
  • On-the-job training with pay
  • An associate’s degree in a high-tech, in-demand field
  • A guaranteed job upon successful completion of the program

The program is offered at Henry Ford Community College, Wayne County Community College, and other community colleges in Southeast Michigan that have the equipment and facilities necessary for training.

All interested candidates must call the Michigan First! One Stop Service Center in Dearborn at 313-945-8159 to sign up for an orientation prior to the Feb. 21 deadline. Orientation will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12; or 10 a.m. to noon on Monday, Feb. 17.
