ACCESS Domestic Violence Awareness and Treatment program receives $10k from Verizon Wireless

ACCESS would like to extend its warmest thanks to Verizon Wireless for their contribution of $10,000 to our Domestic Violence Awareness and Treatment program.

ACCESS would like to extend its warmest thanks to Verizon Wireless for their contribution of $10,000 to our Domestic Violence Awareness and Treatment program.
The ACCESS Domestic Violence Awareness and Treatment program provides local survivors of domestic violence with psychiatric services, legal advocacy, referrals to safe housing and medical treatment and financial assistance. Through public outreach and education, this program also gives members of our community an avenue to create and execute strategies to combat domestic violence and to promote healthy and peaceful relationships.

Specifically, Verizon Wireless’ contribution will help our Domestic Violence Awareness and Treatment program provide local domestic violence survivors with the essentials needed to get back on their feet, such as mortgage, rental, utility payments and transportation assistance, as well as clothing and groceries.  It will also help us to provide vital emergency services, such as the replacement of locks to prevent abusers from gaining access to a survivor’s home. Simple provisions and services like these can make a crucial difference in helping survivors transition to a domestic violence-free life.

This contribution was funded by Verizon Wireless’ Hopeline campaign. HopeLine provides ways for individuals to take action against domestic violence by donating no-longer-used wireless phones and accessories in any condition and from any service provider. Verizon recycles these devices, and utilizes the resulting funds to support domestic violence prevention organizations and programs nationwide.

Since its launch in October 2001, HopeLine has donated hundreds of thousands of phones and awarded millions of dollars in cash grants to non-profit organizations and agencies. In October 2015, ACCESS commemorated Domestic Violence Awareness Month by launching a drive to collect second-hand cellular phones and their accessories in support of Verizon’s Hopeline Drive.
