ACCESS COVID-19 Efforts Continue

The uncertainty of these times can be daunting, but we remain steadfast in our commitment to the safety of staff and clients as we continue to provide all critical services remotely. This commitment has allowed us to navigate the challenges of this pandemic, while meeting the urgent needs of tens of thousands of clients over the last several weeks.

In the past three weeks, we have:

  • Transitioned almost 500 staff to working remotely (except for limited in-person operational necessities) to protect staff and clients, while continuing to fully serve increasing community needs
  • Served over 9,635 prepared meals to students in Dearborn and Detroit
  • Provided remote learning to thousands of virtual contacts, including students and parents of students, pre-K through 12th grade
  • Raised nearly $70,000 to provide food and basic needs support directly to vulnerable families
  • COVID-screened 3,700 and tested 3,300 of our first responders and health care workers, reducing the burden on our already overwhelmed hospital systems and allowing the return of 2,500 of these heroes to the frontlines where they are needed now, more than ever
  • Launched a Census Day campaign, including a Census Facebook challenge with Facebook Live sessions and a Governor’s Townhall, featuring ACCESS leaders, reaching over 34,000 people and encouraging them to be counted in Census 2020
  • Assisted 3,119 individuals in applying for unemployment and basic needs support
  • Provided 125 virtual support services to clients affected by substance use disorder
  • Provided 3,851 virtual therapy, tele-psych and case management services to children, adults, families and domestic violence, sexual assault and torture survivors
  • Offered over 30 virtual supportive services through our transitional housing program
  • Enrolled over 300 individuals in health insurance plans through our navigator program
  • Shifted programming at the Arab American National Museum (AANM) to online platforms, connected artists with our national audiences  through innovative virtual events and communal gatherings, and provided educational resources  for children and parents
  • Provided bilingual COVID-related resources from CDC, federal and state governments, in addition to ACCESS-translated resources, which can be accessed HERE.

As the COVID-19 situation continues to develop daily, we remain poised and ready to support our communities and are committed to getting through this together.
