Mariam Mroue is our Finance Director. She brings unparalleled experience and passion to her new leadership role at ACCESS. She has been an integral part of our organization for 25 years, climbing the ranks from her initial position as an accountant to most recently serving as the manager of the Fiscal Department. Her expertise in nonprofit accounting is a testament to her skill set and her dedication to financial excellence and stewardship.
She leads ACCESS's annual agency-wide audit, a critical task that ensures financial compliance and transparency. She was also responsible for overseeing the budget, accounting, and grants of ACCESS' largest department, the Community Health and Research Center (CHRC). Under her adept management, the CHRC budget grew from $17 million to $21 million within a two-year period. Her guidance has played an essential role in amplifying the reach and impact of CHRC's programs and services.
Her influence at ACCESS transcends her fiscal responsibilities. For the past 20 years, she has been an active participant in Volunteers in Tax Assistance (VITA), a program dedicated to aiding low-income families in filing their annual income taxes. Always willing to lend a hand, Mariam has spent hundreds of hours, primarily on weekends, to provide this invaluable service to the community.
Her advocacy and volunteerism don't stop there. She has generously contributed her time to various programs throughout ACCESS, thereby positively impacting countless individuals and families. Her tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to community engagement have played a pivotal role in our organization's ability to maximize its impact.
Mariam holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Michigan-Dearborn. She also brings over 15 years of experience in state and federal grant management to her new role. Her extensive background positions her as an ideal leader who understands the complexities of financial management and appreciates the larger mission of community service.
She is an exceptional individual who approaches each task with heartfelt dedication. She has committed her entire adult life to serving her community and uplifting marginalized voices.
